CHIPPENDALE SLANT-FRONT DESK.
Attributed to New York, 3rd quarter-18th century, mahogany, poplar, and cherry. Four graduated drawers resting on ball and claw feet; interior with cubbyholes over drawers and a central prospect. Retains mostly period brass pulls. Imperfections. 43 1/2"h. 42 1/4"w. 21"d., 32 1/4" writing height. Ex H. George Bickelmann (Michigan).

Condition: Refinished, back feet replaced, left-side return replaced, some glue blocks on front feet replaced, drawer lip patches, left lid support replaced, some later nailes on the back, lid with loss on left outside and with a restored hinge rail, two interior drawer bottoms replaced, some interior pulls replaced, two exterior brasses replaced as well as some of the nuts on the period brasses.
