FOLKSY PORTRAIT OF A REVOLUTIONARY FIGURE.
Found in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, early 19th century, watercolor on laid paper. Full-length portrait of a uniformed revolutionary standing in front of a 13-star flag and preparing to sign a document, presumably the Declaration of Independence. Minor imperfections. 9 1/4"h. 7 1/4"w., in a period frame, 13 1/4"h. 11"w. Ex Don and Faith Bronson (Michigan). Condition reportCondition: Light toning, scattered water stains (mostly marginal), light scattered foxing, central fold line, lightly glued to another piece of period, laid paper. Frame has its original finish and has minor damage; scratched names and dates on the back of the frame, including 1846. Descriptions provided in both printed and on-line catalogue formats do not include condition reports.
