Attributed to the Oliver Buckley workshop, Stevens Plains, Maine, 1st half-19th century, tin. Original bold floral designs on black ground. Oval box has tin handle and hasp and a divided interior with removable center. Some wear, mostly to back, handle resoldered. 12 1/4"w. 8 1/2"d. 6 1/4"h. Ex Van Dusen/Schuman (Michigan/CA). See American Painted Tinware vol. 2, by Martin & Tucker, pg. 58, for a piece with similar decoration by Buckley.
