DECORATED DOME TOP BOX.
Attributed to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, mid 19th century, poplar. Of diminutive size and pegged construction. Retains its original tin hinges, hasp, and its original brownish-red over yellow-green sponge decoration. Minor imperfections. 4 1/2"h. 8 1/8"w. 4 7/8"d. Ex Marjorie Stauffer Antiques (Ohio). Stamped twice on the interior is the name "Fanny Nolt". Genealogical research has identified several Fanny Nolts living in Lancaster County in the 19th century. Condition reportCondition: One hinge beginning to split; a few later nails added for reinforcment. The thick varnish has yellowed and darkened considerably. Descriptions provided in both printed and on-line catalogue formats do not include condition reports.
