Attributed to the Zachariah B. Stevens workshop, Stevens Plains, Maine, 1800-1840, tin. Original striking bellflower design on a black ground. Wire handle, tin hasp. Minimal wear. 6 1/2"w. 3 1/4"d. 3 3/4"h.

Possibly painted by one of the Francis sisters; Hattie, Sally or Maria.

Paint appears to be original. Hinges possibly resoldered. Very nice box.
