Bellamy, born in Kittery Point, Maine, was well known for his eagle carvings and also worked at the Navy shipyard in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. This eagle descended in the consignor's family and was a gift to her father (born 1900 in Kittery Point) from the artist.

Condition: Included in the lot are letters from the consignor and the restorer (restored in 1968). Beak and wing tip restored.
