COUNTRY TALL CASE CLOCK.
Garry Lewis, Warren, Trumbull County, Ohio, ca. 1820-1830, poplar. Scroll-cut hood, and a wooden movement with an unusual ship-painted dial. Imperfections. 84 1/2"h. 15"w. 9 1/4"d. Garry Lewis (b. 1800), the brother of clockmakers Lamber and Wheeler Lewis, appears to have mostly sold clocks made by others, and Spittler et al (p. 188) reference 30-hour wooden tall clocks signed, as this one is, "G. Lewis". Condition reportCondition: Refinished, scrollwork on the hood replaced, hood and movement now attached to the case with screws, missing the backboard behind the hood. Descriptions provided in both printed and on-line catalogue formats do not include condition reports.
