FINE AND RARE WRIGGLEWORK COFFEE POT.
Pennsylvania, 1st quarter-19th century, tin. Heavily decorated with detailed images of an American flag, an eagle on a vine with a snake in its beak, a soldier with a sword and epaulettes, other birds and flowers including tulips. The spout has decoration as well as the handle having a snake and the lid having flowers. Brass finial on the lid. 9 3/4"h.

Sold at Sotheby's, October 24, 1993, lot 287. Exhibited in the catalogue for the American Folk Arts from the Collection of Ruth and James O. Keene (retains tag), The Detroit Institute of Arts, March 1960, figure 109. and the Museum of American Folk Art 1983, "The Keene Eye" exhibit, no. 48.

Condition: Small solder point in bottom at dent, original finial has plastic fastner.
