SCULL, William (after); and Thomas JEFFERYS. A Map of Pennsylvania Exhibiting not only the Improved Parts of that Province, but also its Extensive Frontiers. [London: Sayer & Bennett, 1775]. Engraved folding map on three sheets joined, hand-colored in outline (690 x 1360 mm). Condition: wide margins, minor separation along one fold in the margin. the most accurate map of pennsylvania to be issued on the eve of the revolution. In 1770, William Scull updated his grandfather's 1759 map of Pennsylvania adding considerable detail in the western portions from changes following the end of the French and Indian War. That edition, published in Philadelphia, is quite rare. The map, however, was reissued by Thomas Jefferys in 1776, appearing in his famed American Atlas.
