Paris: De l'impremie du Cercle Social, 1791. 2 volumes in 1, 8vo (195 x 120 mm). Contemporary French mottled cat's paw calf, spine stamped in gilt and with raised bands. Condition: minor rubbing at the corners. Provenance: publisher's inked stamp on the title. first edition. One of the earliest biographies of Penn, and apparently never translated into English. This a fine copy in its original calf gilt binding. Howes M323; Sabin 44820.
