Contemporary sheep, morocco gilt label on the upper cover. Condition: front free endpaper and title tissue-backed; covers worn, rebacked and recased. Provenance: Henry Paul Beck (signature on title, bookplate, manuscript annotations throughout and on the map). early 19th century printing of the laws of the city, with a restrike of thomas holme's original portraiture plan. The advertisement leaf following the title explains: "For the Portraiture of the City, in the Appendix, the editor is indebted to Dr. George Logan, of Stenton, who is in possession of the original plate, from which the impression was taken." The plate is now located at the Historical Society of Pennsylvania. See Snyder, COI p. 17.
