BROWN, M. E. D. The Gold & Silver Artificers of Phila. In Civic Procession 22 Feb. 1832. Philadelphia: M. E. D. Brown, 1832. Lithograph, hand-colored (275 x 380 mm). Framed. Condition: repaired tear to lower margin. Provenance: Martin P. Snyder. "This parade in honor of the centennial of Washington's birth is shown marching up Chestnut Street past the Second Bank of the United States. The steps of the bank are packed with spectators. The parade was made up in part by the different trades, and here we see the gold and silver artificers in uniform following a large open car drawn by six horses. On the car men work a stamping press and distribute freshly minted coins honoring Washington. Below the picture is a vignette of both sides of the coin" (Wainright). Wainright 380.
