Framed. Provenance: Martin P. Snyder. considered by snyder to be "the most beautiful engraved view of the city." "In 1836 Hill issued two more large Philadelphia aquatints which, with that of the Water Works, many consider the finest examples of Philadelphia views. Made from drawings by his son John William Hill, one is a most unusual scene in which onlookers reclining on the roof of the Navy Yard ship house see the city along the Delaware River spread out below them ...
