"In the 1820s George Lehman aquatinted four of his own drawings of the Fairmount Water Works structures and the Upper Ferry Bridge close by ... In a few years Lehman turned to lithography; but he returned to aquatint in his large The New Suspension Bridge at Fairmount. This replaced in 1842 the Upper Ferry Bridge burned in 1838" (Snyder).
