COPSTICK, A. Manayunk. Philadelphia: c. 1853. Lithographed by T. Sinclair (350 x 415 mm). Condition: minor toning, white spotting in the lower margin, tissue backed closing edge tears. Provenance: Martin P. Snyder. "The west bank of the Schuylkill with a railroad track appears on the left of this view with the village of Manayunk across the river ... Large mills border the Manayunk side of the water" (Wainwright). The artist has dated the original work on the stone as 1853; the lithograph, among the earliest such views dedicated to Manayunk, is presumed to have been created shortly thereafter.
