INGER, Christian. Masonic Memorial. Philadelphia: Lithographed by Duval, [Williams] & Duval, published by Thomas Phenix, 1860. Lithograph, hand-colored (485 x 635 mm). Condition: repair to horizontal crease, offset to extremities of margin, one short tear upper margin. Provenance: Martin P. Snyder. This lithograph depicts famous Philadelphia Masons in the main hall of their new building, built after the 1855 fire that destroyed their previous one. In the front stands George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Andrew Jackson and other notable Masons of previous generations. Washington opens his coat to reveal the Masonic symbols on his apron; the other member's aprons are unadorned. Not in Wainwright.ImagesClick on thumbnails to see larger images:
