CENTENNIAL - CURRIER & IVES. Grand United States Centennial Exhibition 1876. Fairmount Park, Philadelphia [series title]. Philadelphia: Currier & Ives, [1876]. Three hand-colored lithographs (each 320 x 435 mm). Condition: some soiling, edgewear and marginal tears, puncture to Art Gallery repaired. Provenance: Martin P. Snyder. These three prints depict the Art Gallery, Horticultural Hall and Machinery Hall, all constructed for the Centennial celebrations in Philadelphia. "The Currier & Ives firm was not one to pass an opportunity for selling prints like that offered by the Centennial. Similarly to Hunter, it issued separate prints of the Exhibition buildings, which were then sold through their outlets in New York and around the country" (Wohl Collection).
