Bucks County: 16 July 1881. Watercolor, on paper (127 x 215 mm). Signed and dated at the lower left. Framed. In this pastoral scene, several houses can be discerned amonst the thick trees and rolling hills, with a wooden fence in the foreground. "Kollner was a true romantic, a product of his times and German background. There is nothing formal about his work. He admired the disordered aspects of nature ... and he sought to capture their moods" (Wainwright). Two albums of similar Bucks County views are located at the Historical Society of Pennsylvania.
