Description
Flown Apollo 16 35mm. Robbins Sterling Silver Medallion
(No. 40/98 flown). This is the second rarest flown Robbins medallion. Only the Apollo 17 medallions (80 flown) are rarer. The obverse depicts the NASA vector which symbolizes teamwork, an eagle representing the USA, and the lunar surface. The names of the crew and sixteen stars representing the mission number border the emblems. The reverse contains the landing and splashdown dates. Included are both handwritten and typed (1998) certificates of authenticity, on his letterhead, from Charlie Duke, as well as two photos of him signing the certificates. This is the first time we have had the opportunity to offer this medallion in one of our sales. Extremely rare.
