FINE HALF-PLATE DAGUERREOTYPE IN A HISTORICAL THERMOPLASTIC CASE, the image of an unidentified distinguished gentleman with a "Jacob Shew / Sacramento" stamp on liner, the case obverse featuring the Washington Monument at Richmond, VA surrounded by seraphs, eagles and shields, the reverse featuring an empty oval with the same border as the obverse. Mid 19th century. 6 1/8" x 5" overall.
Reference: Berg, #1-3S and #1-7. Provenance: Property of a Pennsylvania lady. Condition reportExcellent condition, the case with only a small chip to the lower right corner and a flake to the lower edge, both on obverse, free of hairlines of other imperfections
