Antique Chi'Wara Helmet Mask, Bamana People,
helmet with simplified facial features and a seated female worship figure finial, atop the head is a double antelope motif with carved geometric designs along their necks as well as cowry shell earrings, thread nose rings, carved antlers and animal hair. 43" x 7' x 8.5" Estimate: $300 - 500 Condition reportOne horn missing hair and leather tip, chipping especially to ears and back of antelope necks, one ear missing cowery shell adornment, insect damage resulting in wood loss to right antelope nose and back of neck and to back of the human head, crack to front of the right antelope neck, open crack to right and left side and to forehead of human head, chips to human ear, interior wood staining with signs of extensive use, most likely human sweat.
