Elizabeth O'Neill Verner (SC, 1883-1979), "Jamie,"
pastel on silk, signed lower right "Elizabeth O'Neill Verner," inscribed in the artist's hand on the verso "Jamie by Elizabeth O'Neill Verner," housed in what appears to be the original oak frame under glass and retaining old paper label on the verso reading "Mr. George "W(einh)agen Jr., / 433 W. Clybourn Street, / c/o A. George Schultz Company, / Milwaukee, / Wisconsin." SS 20.5" x 12"; DOA 24" x 16" Additional research shows that Mr. George Weinhagen, Jr. was an art collector who donated a Rembrandt etching and two oil paintings to the USGA "Golf House" in New Jersey in 1956. He later moved to Rancho Sante Fe, California. (see "History of the Game in 'Golf House' Art" by Paul R. MacDonald in the November, 1956 issue of the USGA Journal and Turf Management.). This picture is from a private California collector. Estimate: $20000 - 30000 ImagesClick on thumbnails to see larger images:
