Title: American Cattle: Their History, Breeding and Management

Printing Year: 1868 Condition/Details: Bound in maroon cloth with bright gilt embossing, this antique volume is a scarce early description of livestock growing. The author states in his preface: "The object of this work is not only to give a historical account of the Bovine race, to suggest to our farmers, and cattle breeders, the best methods of their production and management, but to exalt and ennoble its pursuit to the dignity to which it is entitled, in various departments of American agriculture." The work contains numerous in-text illustrations. The volume shows light external age/wear, and is solidly bound with clean pages. The book measures approximately 5.5" x 7.5" and contains 528 pages plus 14 pages of publisher's illustrated advertisements.
