Publisher: State Board of Information Printing Year: 1886 Condition/Details: Bound in original pink wrappers, this antique volume is a scarce information booklet on the state of Oregon Its purpose is stated as follows:"It has been published to meet the wide-reaching demand for authenticated information about this State; information that shall be full, right to the point, practical; that will convey to all who may desire a new home, or a location for some new enterprise or valuable industry here, a correct idea of the inducements which Oregon offters. There is nothing expedient or honest in overwrought or highly-colored statements regarding this, or any other state, as an immigration field. Oregon has nothing to lose, and all to gain, by a close, scrutinizing investigation of what she has to offer in the way of climate, soil, general productions, social advantages, schools, church interests and kindred things." The work is illustrated with a frontispiece of Crater Lake, Southern Oregon and back cover offers a small picture of Mt. Hood. The volume shows light external age/wear, with chipping to spine, and is solidly bound with clean pages. Top of front cover has faint stamp bearing name of a "General Ticket Agent".
