Condition/Details: Bound in red cloth with bright gilt embossing, this antique volume is a scarce description of the material found on the Eighth Amherst Expedition, "and such conclusions as are directly derived from that material." The preface establishes the following in regard to said material: " The material here described forms a unified body of data, which adds materially to our knowledge of the complete animals of the Tertiary period in Patagonia." The work is illustrated with many drawings of the uncovered remains. The volume is in excellent condition, and is solidly bound with clean, bright pages. Dustjacket, now in glassine cover, is intact with a 3.5" tear from the middle of top edge. Front endpaper bears the personal library stamp of Samuel T. Pees. The book measures approximately 6.25" x 9.25" and contains 232 pages. Shipping cost (within the U.S.) for this lot will be: $4.50
