Garlock (Herkimer, NY) Printing Year: 1907 Condition/Details: Bound in original wrappers with picture of Grace Brown on front cover, this antique volume is a scarce description of a murder case, "the most famous", in the history of Herkimer County. The publisher states in his introduction of his intention to present a history not as "embellished story" and continues: "Perhaps the greatest excuse that might be offered for his publication is the fact that some of the leading newspapers have so fearfully "faked" and exaggerated the case that many readers do not know yet the true facts. The intention of this publication is to plainly state the case as it occurred in a concise and truthful manner." The work is illustrated with many photographs of the places and persons involved. The volume shows light external age/wear, and is solidly bound with age-toned pages. There is a small stain to bottom outside corner of cover and first pages.
