Title: Conquest of the Air by Airships and Other Flying Machines

Bertron Printing Year: 1910 Signed by author Condition/Details: Bound in blue cloth with pictorial paper label and gilt embossing, this antique volume is a scarce early history of aviation. The subtitle reads: "being a comprehensive history of aerial navigation with graphic accounts of thrilling flights, daring dashes, and desperate courage, hairbreadth escapes in the whirling eddies of upper currents, plunges to death from airships a mile in the clouds, battling with the elements and outstripping the fastest express trains" The author's inscription is on a preliminary page facing title page. The work is illustrated with many photographs. The volume shows external age/wear, with binding split at front hinge. Title page has loss to bottom and is detached. Text block is internally shaken with age-toned pages. The book measures approximately 7" x 9" and contains 400 pages.
