From one of the most rich and diverse periods in Miró's career, this gem dazzles the eye with his use of poetic line and vibrant hues. With a sensitive use of line and color, the figures in this work appear playful and give a feeling of rhythmic active motion. Extending the image into the margin, the artist experiments with the application and placement of color. Subtle blue with a hint of red sprinkles across the page, creating a strong sense of balance and harmony. The contrasting dark black lines and ethereal applications of blue green stand out from the page, giving this work depth and volume. Jacques Dupin discussed the artist's interaction with poetry, stating, "…one of the printer Miró's main concerns, one of his essential purposes: defending the poets. His harmony and solidarity with poetry are once more against the mainstream. This catalogue shows how many poets, well-known, unrecognized, unknown, he helped with a frontispiece…" (Dupin 12)
