Pastel drawing by Edward Hurst (Tennessee, 1912-1972) entitled "Jose with his goats, Ataliya, Canary Islands". In addition to studying under Catherine Wiley in Knoxville, Hurst studied at the Academy House in Florence and the Royal Academy of Arts in London. Hurst died in Edinburgh, Scotland. An example of Hurst's work is illustrated in the "Art & Furniture of East Tennessee" Namuni Hale Young, p. 105, figure 58. Condition - overall very good condition. Sight - 11 3/4" height x 9 1/2" width, framed - 20 1/2" height x 17 1/4" width. Early 20th century.
