Large six gallon Alexandria, Virginia stoneware jar with elaborate cobalt decoration, stamped "B.C. Milburn Alexa." (Benedict C. Milburn, VA, 1805-1867) and inscribed "6" under handle. Chip to rim near handle, shallow chip to underside of handle (visible in photograph), otherwise very good condition. 17 1/2" height. 19th century.
