Civil War Archive of Capt. Edmund Morse, 7th Vermont Infantry Quartermaster (1832-1897). Includes Morse's Solingen-made presentation sword inscribed "E.A. Morse Q.M. 7th Vert. Infantry"; a leatherbound diary with label for New Orleans maker in which he describes an 1873 reunion; leather wallet; reunion hat with GAR pin; a photographic print of Union army officers (possibly the 7th Vt.); a photographic print with flag marked V.N.G. (probably Vermont National Guard); a photographic print of Morse's home in Rutland, Vermont; an 8 1/4" x 6 1/2" tintype of man in uniform; a cavalry parade sword marked Jacob Reed & Sons; Morse's Certificate of Military Order of the Loyal Legion signed by Rutherford B. Hayes; and Morse's leatherbound family Bible, which includes several CDV's (one of a man with dog, possibly Morse in later years). The 7th Vt. Infantry served in the Western Theater, primarily Florida, Alabama, and Louisiana, from February 1862 to March 1866.
