58. Peter Lorre "Hans Beckert" portrait from M. (UFA, 1931) Nitrate silver glossy double-weight 9 ¼ in. x 11 ¾ in. still German photo. Peter Lorre as Hans Beckert looks in horror at the mirror and sees that the letter M (for "Murderer") has been written in chalk on the back of his jacket. One of the most legendary images in world cinema. Still is tightly trimmed to 8 in. x 11in., with a hint left of the right hand border, image itself is intact; with minimal conservation at the extreme corner of old pinholes, Fine. $2,000 - $3,000
