68. Werner Krauss "Caligari" and Conrad Veidt "Cesare" Photo From The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. (Cecla-Bioscop AG, 1920) Matte double-weight 11 in. x 14 in. neatly trimmed down to 9 ¾ in. x 12 ¾ in. U.S. still photo. Werner Krauss as Caligari, Conrad Veidt as Cesare. A particularly important and legendary image because it shows the somnambulist Cesare in his coffin. This photo bears the stamp on the back "The Cabinet Of Dr. Caligari Distributed By Goldwyn." There are remnants of brown paper over that stamp, almost all of which is still clearly legible. Original materials from the 1921 Goldwyn release are particularly rare. Some bends to lower left corner, fine. $3,000 - $4,000
