American editions: Houghton Mifflin Company, Boston. Each book is inscribed on the front free endpapers: "To Deirdre Levinson, from, J.R.R. Tolkien". Moderately worn blue cloth bindings. Dust jackets present for Two Towers & Return of the King with chips, creases and paper loss at extremities. Laid in is a ANS postcard printed with "from Professor J. R. R. Tolkien, Merton College, Oxford" addressed to "Miss D. Levinson, St. Anne's College, Oxford" which reads, "13/6/55, Yes, 12 noon tomorrow will be convenient for me & I shall expect you then. J.R.R.T." Additionally laid in is an ALS on Merton College, Oxford letterhead, addressed to "D. Levinson, St. Anne's College, Oxford", which reads, "28 April, 1956, Dear Miss Levinson, Could you come and see me at about 11:30 (or a little before) on Thursday? Etc. A wonderful group of signed Tolkien books with autograph notes. $15,000 - $18,000
