231. Esquire's All-American Boys Baseball Game album signed by Babe Ruth and other baseball greats. Fifty page souvenir album from the first high school all-star baseball game in a series sponsored by Esquire Magazine held at the Polo Grounds, New York, August 24, 1945. East vs. West, East manager was Babe Ruth; West manager was Ty Cobb. Coaches were: Carl Hubbell, Mel Ott, Joe McCarthy. Each page is a true 8 in. x 10 in. photograph featuring each high school all-star player with their home town and stats (the majority have signed their respective photographs). Of particular interest, Babe Ruth has signed his name beside his 4 in. x 5 in. image as the Manager of the East. Carl Hubbell signed beside his image and Joe McCarthy and Mell Ott signed their autographs on the opposite page. Two teens made the "bigs"; Davey Williams (who signed his photograph) and Curt Simmons who signed his name on the flip side of Ruth's page. Quiz Kid Harve Bennett was named batboy for Ruth's East squad. Front cover of the album has become detached; otherwise in very good condition. $800 - $1,200
