(Columbia Pictures, 1977) This Alien from Steven Spielberg's classic 1977 film is as iconic a rendition of an extraterrestrial as has ever been put on-screen. The deceptively simple design, created by Tom Burman, was inspired in part by Casper the Friendly Ghost, captures the innocence and potential malice of these visitors from another world.
