Carte-de-visite album containing 31 civilian CDV's of men, women and children. Also contained in this album are 14 CDV's of members of the 23rd Pennsylvania Infantry (Birney's Zouaves). The majority of these CDV's present backmarks of Sandusky Ohio photographers. From January to May 1864 the 23rd Pennsylvania was moved to Johnson's Island Ohio to guard Confederate prisoners. The album also includes a CDV of General Grant as a Lt. General, knees up, by the Philadelphia Photographic Company, a tintype of man with high wheeled bicycle, and four CDV's of engravings including General Meade, Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln, General McClellan, and General and Mrs. McClellan.
