A commemorative fan, late 18th century, depicting the marriage of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette, painted on silk, the central vinaigrette showing Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette with Cupid above standing over a garland clad column within an extensive landscape, the side vinaigrettes showing figures in period dress, the carved bone or marine ivory guard sticks delicately carved with classical motifs, approximately 50cm open, 27cm high, in a later oak crescent case with glazed front and hinged back
