A late George III oak crossbanded mahogany eight day longcase clock, circa 1790, the arched 13 inch painted dial signed 'Redol Preece, Hereford', with centred subsidiary seconds dial, date aperture within an inner ring of Roman numerals, outer ring of Arabic numerals, the fruit painted corner spandrels under a rolling moon to the arch, the restored four pillar movement striking on a single bell, the dial by Wilson, Birmingham (1777-1809), the hood with swan-neck pediment over an arched hood door between fluted front corner hood pilasters, over an arched crossbanded trunk door between quarter fluted front corner trunk pilasters, on a crossbanded box base and cut-out plinth, 227cm high Note: Listed in GH Baillie, 'Watch makers and clock makers of the world Volume 1', as active between 1753 - 1792 and succeeded by William Winston.
