Account Of Two 18th Century Shipwrecks In Africa 1809 Book, "Loss of His Majesty's Ship Litchfield .... on the Coast of Barbary ... 1758 ... Also the Shipwreck of the Countess DeBourk on the coast fo Algiers", by Thomas Tegg, with a wonderful fold-out Plate, Very Fine. Full title: "Accurate Account of the Loss of His Majesty's Ship, Litchfield, Captain Barton, of Fifty Guns, on the Coast of Barbary, November 30, 1758, Including the Miserable Situation of the Crew, and the Barbarity of the Moors to them. Also the Shipwreck of the Countess DeBourk, on the Coast of Algiers", 28 pages, 7" x 4.25", with fold-out, black and white frontispiece, 7.5" x 10.25". The lower part of this print, has 1" separations along the folds, while the remainder is intact. The left margin is missing in places, extending slightly into the print area. This frontispiece shows a dramatic scene of the Litchfield sinking, while Africans on shore pull survivors out of the water. This print is dated London April 1, 1809. Aside from foxing here and there, the book is in great condition, and has been rebound in modern covers. Early American will accept payment by check or credit card.
