Print of American Revolutionary War General William Moultrie

c. 1805 Print of William Moultrie, Engraved by G. Fairman, Published by D. Longworth, NY, Choice Fine.
Uncolored engraving, after an original by "C. Fraser"; 5" x 3.5" oval print of William Moultrie ((1731-1805) in military uniform, wide margins on sheet 8.5" x 5.25", with caption: "William Moultrie Esqr. Late Governor of S. Carolina and major Genl. in the American Revolutionary War". Lightly toned, dampstained sheet, sharp image--a very rare image! In 1776, Moultrie repulsed the British attack on Sullivan's Island, now Fort Moultrie, in Charleston harbor. He served as governor of South Carolina from 1785-87 and from 1792-94.
