Hand Engraved Woodblock for Printing "An American Steamship"

c. 1820, Engraved Wooden Printing Block of an American Steamship, Choice Extremely Fine.
2.25" x 5.75," An original woodblock which was used for illustration. A quite large image of a Paddle-wheel Steamship with an American Flag being flown at the stern. Still intact and in usable, uncracked condition -- in fact, it was used to create the matted imprint that accompanies this lot. A historic, hand engraved early American illustration piece. This specific block can be found on page 158, illustration #3 of "2000 Early Advertising Cuts", edited by Clarence P. Hornung, published in 1995.
