c. 1845, Democratic Satirical Broadside, Choice Very Fine.
16" x 7.25". An interesting satirical broadside presenting an "EXHIBITION-of the-FRANKLIN PHILOMATHEAN-SOCIETY, Tuesday Evening, Sept. 32d, 1345-at the CITY HALL. At top center on this broadside is the image of a kicking donkey with a top-hated gentleman standing behind the donkey. Below is a "Dis-ordeer of Exercises," reading: "1. Comic Solo Lowell Brass Band, 2. Oratio Salutatoria (Original) Horatius Nelsonus Holbrookus", and seven other events.
