President William Howard Taft, Oil Painting on Canvas Portrait by Lawrence Williams, Extremely Fine.
Original oil painting of President William H. Taft, based on photograph provided by the Library of Congress, 20" x 16", presently in a modern wooden frame. This portrait is in excellent condition aside from a scuff along the right edge (easily fixed). This is quite a historic addition to any Presidential Collection.

Lawrence Williams (died July 30, 2003) painted a set of presidential portraits which hang in the 3rd floor rotunda of the Colorado state capitol. A much sought after portrait artist, his portraits have covered a vast range of business, professional, military and diplomatic personalities. In 1974 Williams became interested in the approaching American Bicentennial, and began painting a series of presidential portraits based on photographs provided by the Library of Congress. In 1979, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Sullivan of Phoenix, AZ donated a collection of Lawrence Williams' original oil paintings, entitled "Gallery of
Presidents", to the Colorado State Board of Education. This collection was officially unveiled on Colorado Day 1982, at its current location of the third-floor rotunda of the state capitol.
