Empire Cinematograph Model A
Description
(16 x 12 x 7in) Made in England by Houghton Butcher, this is the hand-cranked Empire Cinematograph Model A. The cinematograph is a film camera which also serves as both a projector and developer. Before the advent of the cinematograph, moving pictures were limited to viewing by one person at a time. Leon Bouly of France is credited for inventing a projector which enlarged film images for viewing by large groups, facilitated by the development of George Eastman's innovation of roll film. This cinematograph is missing the projector, however the hand crank film advance is in very good condition. This cinematographi is sold as a collectible, and is not warranted as a working projector.
