OLD STANDARD OIL WELL DERRICK WORKING MODEL
Description
A unique work of folk art in the form of a working model. This was apparently used as a demonstration and public relations tool. The inside label and outside graphics suggest it was sanctioned by Standard Oil circa 1940. A brass tag reads, "Made By Glenn M. Ozias, Annuitant Standard Oil Co. Standard Oil Des Moines IA". The construction is primarily of thin solid oak, long with a few areas of laminated woods used. Various electric and moving apparatus to effect a working oil derrick. Also serves as a great sculpture! Measures 38 x 12 1/2 x 21 inches.
