The Ivor Novello Award to the Bee Gees for best selling British record 78/79 for the single Night Fever. The song became the title track to the film 'Saturday Night Fever' that catapulted John Travolta to fame and marked a change in direction for the Gibb Brothers as they became ever more popular and associated with the current disco frenzy that encaptured western music.
In 1979, they won four Ivor Novello Awards in the UK including 'International Hit Of The Year' (Stayin' Alive), the Songwriters Of The Year Award, and Night Fever won two awards, for 'Most Performed Work' and 'Best Selling A Side'.
This extremely rare accolade is the award for best selling 'A' side presented to The Bee Gees. The song has remained one of the most instantly recognisable and iconic disco tunes of all time.
The single remained top of the Billboard charts for eight weeks in 1978 and was only overtaken by another Gibb-Brother's composition from the same album 'If I can't have you' sung by Yvonne Elliman.
