Here is a vintage original 1955 Davy Crockett wrist watch. Made by Bradley Time Corp, West 29th Street, NYC in 1955 for either girl or boy buckeroos. Featuring Davy Crockett holding a rifle, this watch is all original, including the western look tooled leather strap and in excellent condition considering the fact that its over 50 years old. The watch is complete but does not run. Davy Crockett, the American frontiersman, was born in 1786 and died in 1836. The historical character gained new fame in 1954 when the Walt Disney television show ran a series of episodes featuring Fess Parker as Davy Crockett. Coonskin caps and buckskins became popular as did many other items such as this wristwatch. 8" long when opened.Complete Price Guide to Watches by Cooksey Shugart 2005 pg 424 ... includes certificate that this lot came from the Estate of Louise Mondani Graham, owner of the Brass Bugle Antique Barn in Cornwall Bridge CT.
