A unique and well-constructed turn of the century piece; the cast iron axles with steel hubs and rims are 36" diameter with heavy wooden spokes; a pair of strong hefty steeds would have pulled this rig; the charioteer stood in the five foot long by 30" wide enclosed area; (this unit is tapered and becomes narrower at the rear;) outside wheel to wheel measures 70"; a central removable shaft extends from the front wheels 12 feet out in front to which the dual hitches (which are included) would be attached; the original "curly que" art work and distinctive "MC" (MillsCircus) insignia letters are perfectly produced from a stencil of the original; the unit has been painted on the outside in "Sturbridge Red" milk paint as it was originally; the fancy wheel hub art work is exact; so that the authenticity of this very special piece would be preserved, the inside and the floor (with its random width thick oak planks and large multiple curved steel supports) have all remained as it was originally; Circus Americana at its best - - preserved "original" in important areas, but aided in its presentation by important present day attention to detail to help bring out its true look and wonderful ambiance. Special piece for a special setting. All you need is that pair of stallions to pull it! Condition: Fabulous.
