Antoon Van Dyck "S. Mary Magdalen" Oil On Oak Panel Painting. 19x22. The painting dates the first half of the 17th Century. This painting representing S. Mary Magdalen, is on oil on Oak panel. Good condition. On the reverse side is the panelmark of Michiel Vriendt and of the city of Antwerp. Michiel Vriendt's panelmark can be found on several paintings by Master Painter P.P. Rubens and A. Van Dyck as per the National Gallery in London. Michiel Vriendt, famous panelmaker, was a member of the Antwerp Guild between 1605 and 1637. Art Historian De Bruyn Jean-Pierre states that art master specialist, Erik Larsen who wrote an important work on Van Dyck accepted this as S. Mary Magdelen immediately as an original work by Antoon Van Dyck. Condition: A close examination reveals a layer of paint which had to be fixed the the lower right part and on a seam. This has only a small impact on the overall condition of the painting, which for the rest is in good condition. There is no doubt to the fact that the painting dates from the first half of the 17th Century.
